This time, I visited Fantastic Caverns in Springfield, Missouri, USA.
To sum it up… “I’ve never seen a cave like this before—it was amazing!”
Why I Went to Fantastic Caverns
A Japanese friend told me, “You can drive into a cave—it’s such an American experience!” That made me curious. I thought it could be a great weekend trip with my family. I was right. Both kids and adults can enjoy it.
What Makes It Special
Fantastic Caverns is the only drive-through cave in the U.S. In fact, you can tour it without walking. Moreover, the cave stays at a cool 16 °C (61 °F) all year. The tour takes about 55 minutes. You can see many beautiful stalactites and rock formations without getting tired.

You ride in a Jeep-pulled tram wagon. This makes it easy for everyone—from small children to seniors—to enjoy the sights.
Highlights
- Shiny stalactites lit from above
- The “Chandelier Room,” where nature looks like fine art
- Rock shapes made over thousands of years
Photos cannot show the full beauty. You have to see it yourself.

The guide gives clear explanations, adds jokes, and keeps the tour at a relaxed pace.
Gift Shop
After the tour, visit the shop near the entrance. It has:
- Stones and minerals from the area
- Stylish T-shirts
- Limited-edition mugs
It’s hard not to buy something. The items are high-quality and make great souvenirs.
